Our Myopia Control Options
At West Coast Optical, we offer a range of clinically supported myopia control treatments to suit your child’s age, prescription, and lifestyle. Our optometrist will help determine which option is the best fit during a comprehensive eye exam.
Stellest Lenses by Essilor Stellest lenses are a spectacle lens option designed specifically for myopia control in children. They use H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target) technology to create a volume of signal in front of the retina, which helps slow eye growth and reduce myopia progression. Stellest lenses look and feel like regular glasses, making them an easy fit for kids who prefer frames over contact lenses.
MiyoSmart Lenses by Hoya MiyoSmart lenses use D.I.M.S. (Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments) technology, developed in collaboration with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The lens features hundreds of small segments that create defocus around the central vision zone, signalling the eye to slow its growth. Clinical studies have shown MiyoSmart lenses can reduce myopia progression by an average of 60%.
MiSight 1 Day Contact Lenses by CooperVision MiSight 1 day lenses are daily disposable contact lenses specifically designed for myopia control in children. They use ActivControl technology to correct vision while simultaneously creating myopic defocus to slow eye elongation. MiSight lenses are Health Canada approved for myopia control and are a good option for active kids who prefer contacts over glasses.

Because myopia can impact the shape of the eyeball, either by growing too long or curving too steeply, changes to eyesight caused by myopia are not reversible. The earlier we detect myopia in your child, the sooner we can employ management strategies to help slow the progression of myopia, preserve their visual clarity, and reduce their future risk of eye diseases.
